The skunk enclosure

The skunks were the raccoon’s neighbours, so Oreo reached their enclosure in no time at all. Raccoons are fantastic climbers, so he had no trouble scaling the outside of their home. When he reached the top, he leaned over and peered inside – he could see tufts of black and white fur poking out of the straw where the skunks had buried themselves in their cosy bed.
Still asleep? Didn’t they know it was breakfast time? Oreo couldn’t believe it! He leaned over into the enclosure as far as he could and yelled “Hey! Wake up, stinkers!”
The skunks all awoke with a start, and glared at him angrily. Most of them ignored Oreo and snuggled back to sleep – only Dylan made the effort to pull himself out of bed. Still groggy, he stumbled over and looked up at the raccoon. “What do you want, Oreo?”
“I want my breakfast, that’s what! Have you seen it?”
“No, of course not – it isn’t time for breakfast yet. The sun only just came up! We’ve got lots more sleeping to do before we can even think about breakfast!”
Oreo didn’t understand that logic at all. Breakfast time was whenever he happened to wake up – and not a moment later! Skunks were far too lazy. He knew he’d have to continue his search for the missing meal elsewhere.

But where should he search next?
